This talk explored the transformative role of Debian in the education sector, focusing on how its free, stable, and community-driven ecosystem empowers schools, colleges, and research institutions. The session highlighted examples of integrating Debian successfully into computer labs, using it for teaching programming and system administration etc. The talk also addressed common challenges in adoption of Debian or Open Source, such as lack of technical expertise or institutional resistance, and provide strategies to overcome them. At the end of the session, audience got some actionable ideas to advocate for to implement Debian in educational environment in Indian context.
